Ag Book of the YEAR!!!

Howdy, all! If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll remember that in May I did an Ag Book of the Day theme, where I picked a book a day to feature…it coincided with my sons’ school reading program. It was an amazing month, and there were great books featured.

And now, I’ve found our latest treasure, and I’m sure it’ll soon be yours as well! And if you’re lucky, you’ll win one of the signed copies I’m giving away!!!

Here it is:

A family favorite!

Levi’s Lost Calf, by Amanda Radke, illustrated by Michelle Weber. We received our copies on Saturday, and we’ve already read it 15 times!!! The boys LOVE the colorful artwork and all the animals involved. The story is a simple, yet completely realistic farm story…a little boy is helping on the farm, and realizes one of his favorite calves is missing, so he takes his trusty horse and goes to find it!
Not only does the book have a GREAT story, but it also includes a great cowboy recipe, and vocabulary words to help those that may not be familiar with ranch lingo…how cool is that?
I’ve seen some really good farm books for kids, but this is one of the best! I highly recommend it, and if you leave a comment on this post, you’ll be signed up to win a copy, signed by Amanda Radke herself!!!
This is Amanda’s first book (and I’m hoping for many more to come!), and the artwork by Michelle Weber is breathtaking, as beautiful as it is captivating! So be sure to get your copy soon, you don’t want to miss out!
To enter in the contest, just leave a comment on this post. For extra entries, subsribe to my blog and follow me on twitter (wagfarms or Cows_Life)…let me know if you already do those things, it’ll still count as an entry! I’ll have a random number selected from to pick my winner!
Good luck…I’ll draw TWO lucky winners on Friday, August 19!
*I better add that, although I was given the copies of the book, the opinions expressed are my own, and don’t reflect anyone else, but me, myself and I. Although, I still think it’s a super-cool, absolutely fantastic, out-of-this-world ag book, you can buy a copy yourself and decide on your own. But trust me, it’s great! 😉

  1. I’d love to have your Ag Book of the Day list! If you think they’re accurate in representing current American agriculture, you should nominate a few for the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture Accurate Ag Book of the Year. Thanks for sharing Levi’s Lost Calf – I have some cousins that will love a copy!

    • I just so happen to have a list I can send to you! Not only that, but I’m pretty certain I’ve nominated a certain book for a certain Ag Book of the Year, or at least I think I have! It’s by far one of the best Ag books!

How do I enter for the drawing?

I have been following your blog since spring and I remember the posts you did on the Childrens books.

I get your updates via Facebook through the Real Farmwifes of America. I also follow the Beef Daily blog and have for years.

I don’t have any kids, but would use this book as a gift or donate it to the local library.

    • You are entered by commenting, and have 2 extra entries for the other things you do! This book would make a GREAT gift, and a donation to the local library is a WONDERFUL idea! I think I’ll order a few and do the same! Thank you, for the inspiration! 🙂

    • Thank you for the link, Amanda! And you’re right…it’s never too early to think of stocking stuffers! Or a little gift to your school library to kick off the school year!

    • Thank, Bette! Yes, Amanda is quite amazing! And the book is GREAT! Thank you for the high compliment, I love being able to share my farm, and my family, with all of you!

  3. Would love to add another book to our kids shelf. Hope if I can’t make the Nebraska State Fair for a couple of signed copies, I can get a friend get them for me.

  4. Thanks for your great stories. I’m always looking for accurate Ag books and have faithfully been purchasing the Farm Bueau books of the year. I’m a farm girl myself and love knowing that I’m raising two farm boys so this book would be a great addition to our “Ag library.”

  5. I’d love your Ag Book of the Day list, too. I’m in charge of helping our local chamber’s Ag Business committee donate books to the school and I want to make sure they’re accurate & entertaining!

    • Alrighty! I’ll be sure to send a copy to you as well! But it’ll be next week. My little guy has surgery tomorrow, and I have a feeling I’ll be spending most of the week cuddling, snuggling and comforting. If he wouldn’t be so miserable, it would be a slice of heaven for me! 🙂

  6. I love reading your blog! I can certainly relate to a lot of things that happen in your life! The kids would love a couple of this book.

  7. I follow you on twitter and on Facebook and check in on your blog a few times a week. I have seen the previews of this book and it looks amazing. It is definitely on my christmas list to hand out as gifts. I would love to win a copy of this book featuring some beautiful Limousin cattle and telling a story about a real-life ranch!
